3 Healthy Ways To Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

Suffering from a sweet tooth? If so, you may be tempted to give in with a piece of chocolate cake, an ice cream cone, or that slice of apple pie you’ve been dreaming about for far too long.

But before you do so, it would pay to think of some healthier alternatives you could possibly consider that would help you satisfy the craving all the same without derailing your diet efforts.

Let’s go over three healthy ways that you should be considering taking care of those cravings and boost your nutrition at the same time.

Baked Apples With Cinnamon

First, consider boosting your fiber intake for the day with a baked apple with some cinnamon and all the fixings. To do this, simply core an apple and place it on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with cinnamon and a little Stevia and then place in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes.

Once finished, add a dollop of low-sugar vanilla yogurt and some pecans. Serve and you’ll reap a balanced snack that will keep your hunger in check for hours to come.

Home-Made Trail Mix Bars

Next, also consider trail mix bars. Trail mix bars are a perfect snack to take on the road that will prevent you from turning to that chocolate bar at the convenience store.

To prepare these, combine half a cup of oats with some dried cranberries, slivered almonds, diced peanuts, along with a few tablespoons of honey to get everything to stick together.

Note that these snacks are not all that high in protein, so consider having a protein shake along with them.

Banana Split

Finally, if it’s something creamy that you’re craving but you don’t want to go in for that high calorie banana split, make your own – with healthier ingredients.

A few hours beforehand, place a cup of Greek yogurt in the freezer. You want it to start to crystalize, but not freeze entirely. Then when it’s at this stage, half a banana and place it in a bowl.  Spoon the Greek yogurt over top and then sprinkle with some unsweetened coconut flakes or peanuts.

Serve immediately.

So get a little more creative. When a craving strikes, rather than trying to combat it – which will often lead to you eventually giving in anyway, simply give in but in a healthier manner. This way you won’t feel as deprived on your diet and will likely enjoy it more as well.
